Immerse yourself fully in Margaret River wine country by staying at one of these five wineries.

With so much to do in the region (and with Perth a three-hour drive away), you’re going to need to stay in Margaret River for at least a couple of nights. You could look for a hotel in town, but hey, you’re in wine country. Embrace it and sleep among the vines.

From historic homesteads to self-contained cabins, here are five wineries with accommodation in Margaret River.

Cullen Wines

Five years after Diana and Kevin Cullen planted vines in the subregion of Wilyabrup, they built the Homestead just across the road from the winery. Constructed from local granite rock and timber, and offering panoramic views of the surrounding vineyards, this lovely self-catering home has six bedrooms and two bathrooms across both the main house and the studio and sleeps up to 12 guests. It’s also pet friendly, so you can bring your four-legged family members, too.

Cherubino

If you’re travelling with a couple of other families, there are three separate guesthouses at Cherubino Estate which can be booked individually or all together. Each offers something different depending on your needs. Both guesthouse one and two sleep six adults each. The second has a dining room that can accommodate up to 25 guests and a full kitchen pantry, so you can host a dinner party on the night you don’t go to on-site restaurant Masseria. The third guesthouse sleeps 12 and has a couple of rooms with bunkbeds, so it’s great for families with younger kids. The estate is just minutes from Moses Rock and Smiths Beach, which is another bonus.

Windows Estate

On a different note, the strictly adults only Petite Eco Cabin overlooking the vineyard at Windows Estate is the perfect getaway for you and your significant other, you and a friend, or just yourself. Featuring a fireplace, an outdoor bath, bespoke fixtures, fittings and furnishings, this luxurious and secluded cabin is one of the more peaceful and unique accommodation options in the region. It books out quickly though so make sure you plan well ahead.

Whicher Ridge

Heyscape, purveyor and operator of premium off-grid accommodation options around Western Australia, have three tiny cabins on the grounds at Whicher Ridge Wines near Busselton. The cabins each feature a queen-sized bed, kitchen, expansive deck, outdoor bath and floor-to-ceiling windows, and overlook Whicher Ridge’s unique Wine Sensory Garden. The first of its kind, each fruit tree, vegetable, herb and bush planted has been chosen to demystify wine tasting and show how simple pairing wine with food is.

House of Cards

There are three chalets onsite at Yallingup winery House of Cards. The Cottage is the smallest of the three, sleeping up to four people and can be configured to suit both couples and families. The Cabin sleeps up to six and includes a laundry and woodstove. The largest of the three, the Farmhouse, sleeps up to eight, and includes a room with bunk beds for the kids and large terrace that’s perfect for unwinding on with a bottle of the estate’s organic single-vineyard wines.
