When Swiss-trained winemaker Tom Weidmann bought the former Moonshine Valley Winery, which had originally been established to produce fruit wines, he changed both the name and the focus of the business. The 2006 vintage was Tom Weidmann's 25th, and he seeks to make wines from single-vineyard sources, showing the grower and the place of the vineyard on the label. At the other extreme, there is also a range of ports and liqueurs for the general tourist, and the first sparkling wine from the Sunshine Coast, named Rose of Buderim. -JAMES HALLIDAY
