Our Review
Gestalt Wines was founded in 2012 by Anthony Pearce, a graduate of the Adelaide University viticulture and oenology program. He transferred from theory to reality, working with Spinifex in the Barossa Valley and Deviation Road in the Adelaide Hills, focusing on pinot noir, chardonnay and grenache. The two wineries were very well chosen, with highly intelligent winemakers in charge. Anthony has been joined by Craig Turnbull as co-owner. Craig moved from the Hunter Valley to Adelaide in '08, and four years later graduated from the same university oenology program, receiving the SA Wine Industry Association Silver Medal. He gained practical experience in McLaren Vale working for Kangarilla Road and Gemtree before coming to Gestalt to help broaden the wine portfolio. Anthony and Craig's different experiences mesh well. It is an example of the meaning of ‘gestalt': an organised whole that is considered to be greater than the sum of its parts. Music, art, wine - they all are enhanced by the beauty of the composition. Exports to the US. -JAMES HALLIDAY
