Yalumba The Menzies (Coonawarra)

The Hill-Smith family had been buying grapes from Coonawarra and elsewhere in the Limestone Coast Zone long before it became a landowner there. In 1993 it purchased the 20ha vineyard that had provided the grapes previously purchased, and a year later added a nearby 16ha block. Together, these vineyards now have 22ha of cabernet sauvignon and 3.5ha each of merlot and shiraz. The next step was the establishment of the 35ha Mawsons Vineyard in the Wrattonbully region. The third step was to build The Menzies Wine Room on the first property acquired named Menzies Vineyard and to offer the full range of Limestone Coast wines through this striking rammed-earth tasting and function centre.
