Our Review
Herb and Sandie Van De Wiel have been grapegrowers in McLaren Vale for 16 years, and in 1999 they were able to purchase the former Curtis winery. They have two vineyards: the oldest (Foggos Road) is 9ha of shiraz dating back to 1915; 80-year-old grenache, 45-year-old cinsaut and 20-year-old chardonnay, sauvignon blanc and viognier come from their other vineyard at Blewitt Springs. They have established a formidable reputation for their Shiraz, Grenache, Grenache Shiraz Cinsaut and Cabernet Sauvignon equal to the best. Exports to the US, Canada and Denmark. -JAMES HALLIDAY
