Our Review
Rudderless is owned by Doug Govan of McLaren Vale's Victory Hotel (c. 1858.) The vineyard was planted on 2 levels (in 1999 and 2003) to a complex mix of shiraz, graciano, grenache, malbec, mataro and viognier. It surrounds the hotel, which is situated in the foothills of the Southern Willunga Escarpment as it falls into the sea. The wines are mostly sold through the Victory Hotel, where the laid-back Doug keeps a low profile. -JAMES HALLIDAY
