Shottesbrooke is a proudly family-owned and -managed business with 2nd-generation Hamish Maguire as chief winemaker and general manager. Before taking the reins at Shottesbrooke, Hamish completed 2 vintages in France and one in Spain, giving him a personal knowledge of the world of wine. The investment of time and money over the past 33 years have taken Shottesbrooke to the position where it can embark on the next major step and undertake major improvements in the size and operation of its winery. The central theme is the investment in state-of-the-art equipment allowing more gentle fermentation, pressing, movement and maturation of the wines. Thus there has been a 25% increase in the temperature-controlled main barrel storage areas, sufficient to hold an additional 600 barrels. Once bottled and packaged, the wines are held in a purpose-built air-conditioned storage facility until shipped to customers in refrigerated containers to ensure quality and consistency throughout the entire process. Construction on our McLaren Flat site began over two decades ago in 1994, and since then it has become a hub of activity - winemaking, tasting, creating and enjoying. And we couldn't be prouder.
