Our Review
Alex Russell’s story brings back memories of Steve and Monique Lubiana’s '90 move from the family winery in the Riverland to Tasmania’s Derwent River to make high-quality sparkling wine. Alex studied viticulture at La Trobe and subsequently moved to Mildura for a technical role. He then enrolled in wine science at CSU, made wine at Zilzie in '08 and then at Angove Family Winemakers. Here he was introduced to the Riverland Vine Improvement Committee (RVIC). He volunteered as experimental winemaker for RVIC and set up RVIC’s Cirami Estate brand. He established his own winery in ‘14 in a leased shed in Renmark, making 17 different varietal wines. Exports to the EU, the US, the UK and NZ. -JAMES HALLIDAY
