Our Review
Bellebonne is Natalie Fryar’s passion project. She spent 14 years at Jansz, establishing herself as one of Australia’s top sparkling makers while gaining an intimate knowledge of Tasmania’s premium sites. She crafts her elegant and sublime Bellebonne cuvées in minuscule quantities from pockets of grower vines in Pipers River. To finance her first solo vintage, she sold a house, worked waitressing shifts and drove her cleaner’s Ford Festiva to Tassie with her red Kelpie on the front seat. In Jan 2023, Natalie found a permanent home for Bellebonne at Evenfall Wines in Legana, near Launceston, with whom she shares a cellar door. Evenfall wines are made down south at Tas Vintners, so Natalie has full run of the winemaking facilities, which she cohabits with husband and Wellington & Wolfe winemaker Hugh McCullough. Great partnerships indeed. -HALLIDAY TEAM
