Our Review
Todd Goebel and Gillian Christian had been growing grapes and producing wine in the Coal River Valley for close to 20 years when they established Brinktop in ’17. They felt a call to put their wealth of learnings to work, which began with the purchase of a house with a 1ha vineyard. This was the start of enacting a precise and deliberate vision to live onsite, manage the vines and make the wines. They adopted the name Brinktop Killara for one of the wines, Killara being the name of the property. Across the 65ha they have established 8ha of vines, chiefly selected clones of pinot noir, then chardonnay and a hectare each of shiraz and tempranillo. -JAMES HALLIDAY
