Pettavel

Platina Wines is owned by Pettavel Pty Ltd, which is in turn owned by the husband and wife team of Lily Wang and William Hou. Their journey into wine commenced in the 1980s when they were in the US studying for the MBA degrees. The Napa Valley caught their imagination, with the long-term aim of having their own fully fledged wine business. The next step was their decision to leave their successful careers in the US, and in 2009 worked with European winemakers to set up a winery in China. Around the same time they started to look at purchasing premium vineyards in Australia. Their first acquisition was the 55ha Pettavel Vineyard in 2011, followed by the 60ha Yarra Glen Vineyards in ’13, and finally the 5ha Staughton Vale Vineyard in ’15. The wines from Pettavel and Staughton Vale are made by the highly experienced Dr Ray Nadeson, the Yarra Valley wines made from Rob Dolan. Exports to Hong Kong and China. -JAMES HALLIDAY
