Our Review
Ian Pattison, who has a PhD in metallurgy and a diploma in horticultural science and viticulture from Melbourne University/Dookie College, purchased Metcalfe Valley from the Frederiksens in 2003. The vineyard is planted to shiraz (5.6ha) and sauvignon blanc (1.6ha). He has been joined by son Matt, who has a BAgSci from the University of Melbourne, has made wine at De Bortoli (Yarra Valley) and is currently a winemaker at Carlei Estate. -JAMES HALLIDAY
