Our Review
Frank and Wendy Zantvoort began developing the family vineyard in 1988, planting it solely to red varieties, predominantly cabernet sauvignon, merlot, shiraz and sangiovese. They believed that ripening should present no problems for late-ripening varieties such as shiraz and sangiovese as the vineyard is one of the warmest sites on the Peninsula. Son Michael Zantvoort and wife Liz now own and run the business after Frank and Wendy retired, continuing to produce both mainstream and alternative varieties from the original vines; the cellar door and restaurant have been updated. -JAMES HALLIDAY
