Our Review
The micro, patchwork-quilt vineyard was first planted by Philip Lobley with pinot noir, merlot and cabernet sauvignon. In 2008 nebbiolo, semillon, sauvignon blanc and moscato giallo (or gold muskateller, thought to be a version of muscat a petits grains) were added. These are high-density plantings and, with shoot and crop thinning, yield is kept to 600-800g per vine. The 2008 plantings were destroyed by the Black Saturday bushfires, and nebbiolo and moscato giallo have been replanted; 80% of the older wines recovered, thanks to the good spring/summer rainfall of '10. -JAMES HALLIDAY
