Utter Wines

Agronomist and viticulturist Adrian Utter and his father, Robert, farm a family property at Buxton in the Acheron River Valley, in the Murrindindi area of the Goulburn Valley. Initial plantings of grape vines have expanded slowly to just under 2ha of high-density vines, with further gradual expansion planned. The Utters believe the high continentality of the mountain valley, with cool nights and warm days, allows longer ripening, preserving the vibrancy of the fruit. Sustainability guides vineyard practices, promoting biodiversity and maintaining plant health. The complete process from planting to bottling is performed by Adrian and Robert. The farm also supports a productive truffiere (Buxton Black Truffles) and beef cattle production. -JENI PORT
