Our Review
The name is taken from the phonetic spelling of alchemy, the medieval concept of transmuting base metals into gold and similar works of magic. It’s appropriate for owner and winemaker Stuart Dudine, because there are unexplained gaps in his wine journey. He worked in Europe with the gifted winemaker Emmerich Knoll in Austria, and with Stéphane Ogier at Château Mont-Redon in France. His love of the Rhône Valley sprang from his time at Henschke, working with syrah, grenache and mourvèdre. Based in the Yarra Valley since '12, he has worked for Yarra Yering, Oakridge and Mac Forbes and currently makes the wines for Kellybrook. His overall raison d’etre is to find vineyard parcels that perform exceptionally well in their patch of soil, year in and year out, across the seasons. Exports to Singapore. -JAMES HALLIDAY
