Our Review
Callie Jemmeson believes that winemaking doesn’t have to have barriers: what it does need is quality, focus and a destination. This belief is the driving force behind her label Pacha Mama, which she and her father founded in '11 after a trip they took to Peru (the name is a nod to the Incan goddess who presides over harvests). Using fruit sourced from specific vineyards around Victoria and taking a gentle approach to their small-batch winemaking, the wines are a true reflection of site. In mid-'24, Joval Family Wines bought Pacha Mama from the Jemmeson family, although Callie remains as winemaker and key decision-maker for both Pacha Mama and her other label Cloak & Dagger (see listing), plus others in the Joval stable. -ANNA WEBSTER
