Our Review
Warner Glen Estate is a partnership of five WA families, led by viticulturist Glen Harding. The Jindawarra Vineyard, just south of Karridale, is only 6km from the Southern Ocean and 4km from the Indian Ocean; it avoids extreme high temperatures as a result of the cooling sea breezes. It is planted to shiraz, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, pinot noir, viognier and pinot gris. Cabernet sauvignon is sourced from the Warner Glen-managed vineyard at Wilyabrup. Wines are released under the Warner Glen Estate, Frog Belly and Smokin' Gun labels. Exports to Switzerland and China. -JAMES HALLIDAY
Specialities
The chardonnays are outstanding and have won numerous accolades and wine show medals and trophies, the frog belly variations of sauvignon blanc, semillon and Sauvignon show great texture and fruit purity.
Warner Glen has two white specialties, the first is the signature "PBF", Partial Barrel Ferment" taking "SSB" to another level providing 50% elegance, cellaring ability and an experience in taking Sauvignon Blanc Semillon to another level.
The Second is the new Sauvignon Blanc Sur lie, 100% Sauvignon, partially Barrel Fermented, the Sur Lie being the french term for "stirring the lees"....
Red wines are produced with a focus on french oak and maximising the longer southern margaret river growing season to produce soft and elegant reds.
