Our Review
The Galafrey story began when Ian and Linda Tyrer gave up high-profile jobs and moved to Mount Barker to grow grapes and make wine. The dry-grown vineyard they planted continues to be the turning point, the first winery established in an ex-whaling building (long since replaced by a purpose-built winery). The premature death of Ian increased the already considerable difficulties the family had to deal with, but deal with it they did. Daughter Kim Tyrer is now CEO of the business, with Linda in charge of the day-to-day management of Galafrey. -JAMES HALLIDAY
