Founded in the heart of McLaren Vale in 1985, family-owned Beresford Wines continues to set a benchmark for quality Australian wines on the global stage. Fresh from the London Wine Competition and Frankfurt International Trophy, McLaren Vale’s Beresford Wines has secured coveted back-to-back wins for Best Wine from Australia and Australian Producer of the Year respectively.
At the London Wine Competition in April, the South Australian winery was awarded the prestigious Best Wine in Show by Country and Best Shiraz in Show for its Beresford Limited Release Shiraz 2015. Beresford also scooped up two Gold medals for the shiraz, as well as the Beresford Grand Reserve 2016.
In Germany, Beresford Wines was named Best Australian Producer of the Year 2023 at the Frankfurt International Trophy, and received a slew of other accolades including Best Wine from Australia for the Beresford Classic Shiraz 2019, and Grand Gold ratings for the Beresford Estate Shiraz 2019, Beresford Limited Release Cabernet Sauvignon 2016, and Beresford Limited Release Shiraz 2015.

On receiving the trophies, Beresford’s chief winemaker Chris Dix said, “Our achievements have undoubtedly earned us widespread recognition and admiration, and the awards we have won are a testament to our team's unwavering commitment to excellence in winemaking. We are incredibly proud of our vineyard, winery, and packaging teams.”
Together with winemaker Chad Fenton-Smith, Chris meticulously handcrafts individual and distinctive wines from one of McLaren Vale’s most unique sites. These wines are described as demonstrating exceptional terroir that encapsulates the pure essence of the region.
Visitors to the 70-acre Beresford Estate, a 30-minute drive from Adelaide, can sample the award-winning wines from the Australian Producer of the Year at the Beresford Tasting Pavilion. Surrounded by gnarly grenache bush vines, this modernist architectural marvel is a physical testament to the winery’s visionary ethos, deeply grounded in the region.
