The best this country can do. Lightweight. Yet, of an uncanny intensity. Canned peach, grape spice, tangerine chutney, pineapple chunk, dried mango and citrus verbena..." – Ned Goodwin MW, Halliday Wine Companion.

Hoosegg by Philip Shaw Cabernet Sauvignon
Hoosegg is the dream that Philip Shaw has been working towards for nearly 60 years. His 2019 Double Happy Cabernet Sauvignon was made utilising parcels of select fruit from Block 2 at Koomooloo Vineyard, which he established 30 years ago using state-of-the-art winemaking equipment, the best new oak, and all the lessons learned making wine over the past 60 years.
2019 Hoosegg Double Happy Cabernet Sauvignon
Deep red and purple in colour. Fragrant and intense blackberry character palate with full-bodied, youthful, powerful but fine-grained tannins. Oak is present but very integrated and subtle. – Philip Shaw"Superlative in precisely picked blackberries, mulberry and plum skin. Black raspberry and tulip with a medley of peppercorn, Kalamata olive, bay leaf and thyme. Cigar box and sweet chewing tobacco, mocha and potting soil. The wine flows seamlessly with sandy tannins, propulsive acidity and unification of oak. There is flavour for days here. Beautiful to behold." – Shanteh Wale, Halliday Wine Companion, 97 points.
Perfect for: Oenophiles and cabernet sauvignon lovers.

Montalto Wine & Pantry Collection
Montalto's Wine & Pantry Collection showcases Montalto's award-winning cool-climate chardonnay and pinot noir from the Mornington Peninsula. Also included are two pantry items from Montalto's Pantry Collection, created from their estate-grown produce.
2022 Montalto Chardonnay
“A single vineyard wine made from our home vineyard in Red Hill South. Comprised of 59 per cent North Face block (clone P58) and 41 per cent South Face block (clone I10V1). Our Estate Chardonnay is built on a core of citrus fruit together with stone fruits of nectarine and white peach. After some challenging weather events in late spring, impacting yields, the weather gods provided perfect conditions leading into harvest. Slate and flint, lemon curd, crème brulee, lime splice, roasted hazelnuts, white florals, a lick of sulphides all chime in to play their part. The influence of spicy French oak complements the generous fruit profile, which is tied together with bright and energetic natural acidity and a textural, creamy finish.” Simon Black, Chief Winemaker.
2022 Montalto Pinot Noir
“Classically red-fruited, raspberry, cherry, and cranberry combine with blood orange, rose petal, spice, earth, pink peppercorn, fresh herbs, forest floor, and some oak-inspired coffee grind notes, making for a wonderfully aromatic and complex aroma profile. A core of quenching juicy red fruit gives way to a savoury line, showing a subtle character of cured meat or charcuterie. There’s minerality in this wine too and a fine polished tannin, which carries the length of the palate. Moreish acidity gives purpose, brightness, and a long, expressive finish.” Simon Black, Chief Winemaker.Perfect for: The foodies in your life.
The Wine & Pantry Collection is available online and from the Montalto cellar door.
