The far southwest Victorian wine region of Henty grew to prominence through its successes with the wool and sheep farming industry. These days, Henty is famed for its cold-climate viticulture, resulting in fine and delicate wines. Aside from the allure of its winemaking virtuosity, Henty is a unique landscape nestled between the ancient Grampians and the Great Ocean Road. Plan your trip to include artisan cheeses, abundant seafood and fine-dining experiences.
En route to the Basalt Wines cellar door, take a detour to the “Tower Hill” volcano and nature reserve only a couple of kilometres across the paddock. At the stunning new cellar door and restaurant, taste Basalt’s range paired with local cheeses and seafood. The smoked eel on Killarney potato makes a perfect match to the Basalt Great Ocean Road Riesling.
